Miss Li’s Cases: Volunteer

on August 17, 2012

Below is the translation of Miss Li’s blog. I stands for Miss Li.

A lady came to me, telling me that she was having a rough time. Her work had not been done well, and her job seemed to enter the low tide period. She was considering retirement; she wanted to quit.

As we talked, Guan-yin came and said, “She has been thinking about being a volunteer. She once prayed to God and swore she’d be a volunteer to help those who needed help. God has been waiting for her to fulfill that. Now she has to do what she swore to God, or the situation (of her job) will not get better. She has to keep her promises to God.”

I conveyed Guan-yin’s words to the lady. She smiled. She said, “It’s true! I once swore to be a volunteer to help people, but I was too lazy. I’ve been procrastinating.”

Guan-yin told her, “You have to do it as soon as possible. Do it now, and your situation will get better.”

After I told the lady what Guan-yin said, she replied, “I’ll find a charity organization to volunteer tomorrow! This time I mean it!”

Well. One thing this case teaches us: Don’t promise others (especially God) something you won’t do.
